Prime Suspect

This is definitely one of my best discoveries this year. Helen Mirren and the BBC series Prime Suspect are incredible. My wife and I are not the type's who seek out detective or thriller type of film or television, in fact usually the opposite, but when Masterpiece Theater played the last episode of the series we were riveted. We've since borrowed every episode from Netflix and were very disappointed to reach the end. It's wonderful to see such a strong female protagonist put into the macho male world of British crime investigation. The real strength of this series though is the writing and direction, which truly shame most of what's coming from Hollywood or HBO these days.
